List of Music Distribution Options for Indie Musicians

As outlined in Indie Music Marketing: Basics selecting a distribution service is the first step on your musical journey as an independent musician. Below is a list of distributors that release music to platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, Tidal, and Youtube as well as to various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, etc.

Distrokid is a music distribution service that let's you upload to all major stores and streaming platforms for an annual fee. Plans start at $19.99 per year with unlimited uploads and artists keep 100% of their royalties.

CD Baby

One of the first and most established, CD Baby distributes

music to over 150 streaming & download services. Fees start at $9.95 per sing. $49 per album and CD Baby keeps 15% of publishing royalties.


Amuse offers free option for distributing to select major platforms (Spotify, Apple, Deezer, etc.) on up to 12 releases per year with limited functionality. Unlimited plans with more functionality start at $24.99 per year.


Similar to CD Baby, Tunecore distributes to major platforms for a fee of $9.99 per single and $29.99 per album (first year) however these fees are on an annual basis.


Ditto offers distribution to over 200 stores with unlimited plans starting at $19.99 per year for one artist. Artists keep 100% of their rights and royalties.

Record Union

Record Union is a service that distributes to more than 15 global services. Pricing starts at $10 - $15 per year for 1 - 2 tracks and increases depending upon the number of releases. Record Union offers a free EPK and Smart Links as a part of their package.


Bandcamp is an online record store where artists can upload and sell their music directly. It is not a service that uploads to any streaming platforms however is an alternative for artists looking to avoid streaming platforms or supplement other services.
